Root and Fly is artist and author Flora Bowley's second digitally printed fabric collection. The beautiful focal fabric features images of birds in flight over a ground of natural elements. Companion patterns include trees, leaves, a color wash, and a raindrop-like texture. Flora explains the inspiration for Root and Fly. "Living in the Northwest allows me ample opportunity to wander through forests, walk along vast coastal beaches, and tend to my diverse garden. I often record what I see in my sketchbook and collect bits and pieces of nature along the way. I pin my drawings and collections to the wall next to my canvas so I can weave my latest inspirations into the many layers of my paintings as I work. The inspiration I find is endless!" The collection name, Root and Fly, comes from the title of one of her paintings of trees and birds and her understanding of the importance of having strong roots in order to experience freedom and expression - and ultimately to fly.
